5 HARRY POTTER INSPIRED DISHES TO MAKE THIS WINTER NOT JUST WARM BUT ALSO MAGICAL

  1. Shepherd's Pie

Harry Potter might have enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie more if he hadn't been sitting in the detention room with Professor Lockhart in The Chamber of Secrets, waiting for the final punishment that he and Ron would have to receive for the Whomping Willow incident. However, there is no denying that this warm and comforting cake immediately caught the attention of the public with its tasty appearance.

Shepherd's Pie is a British classic meal made with a lamb ragu base and veggies like carrots, mushrooms, and peas, then topped with mashed potatoes. It's filling but not too heavy on the stomach. This traditional shepherd's pie is said to melt right in your mouth due to the well-cooked pulled lamb and creamy mashed potato.

  1. Steak And Kidney Pie

If you haven't noticed, steak and kidney pie was served for dinner at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and also in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, not to mention it was also a specialty at the Leaky Cauldron pub, the dish have been repeatedly mentioned throughout the series, so you might have heard it once or twice but what actually is a steak and kidney pie?

The typical filling for a British steak and kidney pie is diced beef steak and diced ox, lamb, or pig kidneys mixed in beef broth sauce. Fresh herbs like thyme or parsley, as well as salt and pepper, onions, and flour or cornstarch, are added to the broth to thicken the soup.

How can you resist a pie filled with slow-cooked steak and kidney, seasonal vegetables and a buttery puff pastry lid that just pops out of the oven right as the temps drop?

  1. Hot Butterbeer

Butterbeer is a well-known beverage that appears in the Harry Potter novels and even non Potterheads have heard about it (Yes, it is that famous!). It's a tasty drink offered to Hogwarts students at the bar The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade, and as long as you are not house-elves, you won't get drunk on it despite its alcohol content.

To make this delightful dessert right inside the muggle world, all you need is brown sugar, butter, butterscotch, and a few additional hidden ingredients to provide some extra magical spice. Although ice cold butterbeer is considered the best of all, a hot "foamy tankards" version of this iconic drink also suits the magical vibes of a snowy day!

  1. Beef, Lamb & Guinness Stew

Beef, Lamb & Guinness Stew was a stew served at the Leaky Cauldron, the Harry Potter version of this stew consists primarily of beef, lamb and Guinness brand beer for the extra malty taste, and served in a bread bowl while it is still steaming hot so you can slurp it like a bowl of soup when you start breathing out white smoke. The beef and lamb are slow cooked until it can easily be shredded with a fork, and add a bonus, the delicious gravy brings all the flavors together.

  1. Sticky Toffee Pudding

Another classic British dessert served at the Leaky Cauldron is sticky toffee pudding. This dessert is dense and cake-like, comparable to American bread pudding, but takes longer to cook in order to build its shape. The sponge is moist, and the dessert is heavy on the butterscotch chips, which are created with finely chopped dates and served warm with vanilla ice cream. This sweet and delightful delicacy is perfect for a cold winter day or even Christmas Eve.
