1.    Appetizers: Smoked Salmon on Pumpernickel Rye

Amaze your guests by opening party with Smoked Salmon on Pumpernickel Rye comes together quickly and is easy to prepare in advance when you have your ingredients prepped and ready to go.

 

Ingredients:

·      Smoked salmon

·      Cream cheese, room temperature

·      Capers, drained

·      Red onion, sliced thin

·      Fresh dill, rough shop

Method:

·      Cut your bread into smaller pieces. It's a firm bread so it will hold up well.

·      Spread on cream cheese.

·      Add some of your smoked salmon.

·      Sprinkle on some red onion, capers and dill.

·      Serve immediately.

 

2.    Main Course: Roast Turkey

Anyone desiring to roast the perfect golden-brown bird for Christmas should follow this recipe.


 

Ingredients:

 

·      1/4 pound (1 stick) unsalted butter

·      1 lemon, zested and juiced

·      1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme leaves

·      1 fresh turkey (10 to 12 pounds)

·      Salt

·      Freshly ground black pepper

·      1 large bunch fresh thyme

·      1 whole lemon, halved

·      1 Spanish onion, quartered

·      1 head garlic, halved crosswise

 

Method:

·      Set the oven to 350 degrees F

·      Butter should be melted in a small pan. Add 1 teaspoon of thyme leaves, lemon juice and zest, and the butter mixture. Place aside.

·      Wash the turkey inside and out after removing the giblets. After removing any extra fat and pinfeather debris, pat the outside dry. To roast the turkey, put it in a large pan. Add plenty of salt and pepper inside the cavity of the bird. Add the bunch of thyme, the quartered onion, the lemon, and the garlic within the cavity. Spread the butter mixture to the turkey's skin and season with salt and pepper. Put a cord between the legs of the turkey and tuck the wing tips under the body.

 

3.    Vegetabes: Roasted Brussels Sprouts

A simple and nutritious dish with extremely easy-to-find ingredients will make your meal not boring, adding a little green to the meal.

 

Ingredients:

·      The sprouts

·      Garlic

·      Olive oil

·      Salt

·      Pepper

 

Method:

·      Oven should be preheated at 400 degrees.

·      Cut the Brussels sprouts' brown ends and remove any outside yellow leaves. Olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper should be mixed with them in a bowl.

·      They should be roasted for 35 to 40 minutes, or until they are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, on a sheet pan. To ensure that the sprouts are evenly roasted, constantly shake the pan.

 

4.    Soup: Steak Soup Packs Rich Flavor Into A Light Broth.

This holiday will light up with steak soup packs rich flavor into a light broth. Toast up some crunchy bread to eat with this soup and it is a hearty meal.

 

 

Ingredients:

·      1 tablespoon canola oil

·      1 beef top sirloin steak (about 1 pound), cut into 1-inch pieces

·      1 teaspoon dried basil

·      1/2 teaspoon salt

·      1/4 teaspoon pepper

·      2 garlic cloves, minced

·      1 package (16 ounces) frozen vegetables for stew, thawed

·      1 jar (16 ounces) picante sauce

·      2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) beef broth

·      1 can (15-1/2 ounces) great northern beans, rinsed and drained

·      1 cup fresh baby spinach

 

Method:

·      Heat the oil in a Dutch oven over a hot pan. Add salt, pepper, steak, and basil. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes, or until meat is no longer pink, then drain. For an additional minute, add the garlic.

·      Vegetables and picante sauce are stirred in. To boil, add the broth. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until vegetables are cooked. Add the beans and stir; heat through in 4-5 minutes. Add the spinach and simmer for 1-2 minutes, or until it begins to wilt.

 

5.    Dessert:  French Canadian Christmas Cake

It’s practically law that you’ve got to bake at least one festive thing for each winter holiday, so we’ve included some of our favorites, like our French Canadian Christmas Cake

 

Ingredients:

·      2 eggs

·      1 cup sugar

·      1 cup molasses

·      1/2 cup 2% milk

·      1/2 cup butter

·      1 teaspoon baking soda

·      1 teaspoon ground cloves

·      1 teaspoon nutmeg

·      1 teaspoon cinnamon

·      1 cup salted pork (soak pork in cold water for 30 seconds to a minute to remove some salt, then grind the pork)

·      2 cups sultana (golden) raisins

·      1 cup nuts, chopped

·      3 cups flour

·      2 teaspoons baking powder

 

Method:

·      Set the oven to 350°F.

·      Eggs, sugar, and molasses are combined.

·      Add the baking soda, milk, and butter.

·      Add the pork, raisins, nuts, flour, baking powder, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Completely combine.

·      Then bake for about 1-1/2 hours in a Bundt pan.
